Amazon Pays Me $5,000 A Month To Make Videos

This post contains affiliate links which means I’ll earn a small commission if you purchase through my links at no extra cost to you. Please see full disclosure here. I only recommend products I personally use and trust.

I know what you’re probably thinking “Wait, what? Amazon pays people to make videos?” Yup. And not just peanuts either I’m talking $5,000 a month. Every. Single. Month. It still sounds wild when I say it out loud.

The even crazier part? I didn’t need a huge following. I’m not a YouTube celebrity or some big time influencer. I’m just a regular person who stumbled into a hidden gem of an opportunity that anyone can tap into. So today I’m going to spill all the details on how I started, what I do, how much I make and how you can start doing this too.

Let’s rewind a bit shall we?

Amazon Pays Me $5,000 A Month To Make Videos

How I Discovered the Amazon Influencer Program

A few years ago I was scrolling through TikTok as one does and came across a video of someone saying they made $2,000 a month from Amazon just by posting product review videos. I raised an eyebrow did a quick Google search and fell down a rabbit hole.

That’s when I discovered the Amazon Influencer Program which is totally different from Amazon Associates. While Associates earn money by sharing affiliate links off of Amazon like on a blog or social media the Influencer Program lets you post videos directly on Amazon product pages. Think of it like mini YouTube reviews but they show up right next to the “Add to Cart” button.

Sounds genius right? That’s because it is.

The Power of Shoppable Video

Here’s why this works so well. When someone’s on Amazon looking at let’s say a coffee maker they’re already in buying mode. They’re not just browsing but they’re actively trying to decide whether to hit “Buy Now.”

If your video is sitting right there on the product page and helps them feel more confident in their purchase then boom you just earned yourself a commission.

No chasing followers. No dancing for the algorithm. No guessing games.

Just helpful content made once that earns you money over and over again.

Who Can Join the Program?

Now let’s talk eligibility. To join the Amazon Influencer Program you do need to have some kind of social media presence but don’t worry we’re not talking Kardashian levels of fame here.

When I applied I only had a couple thousand followers on Instagram. Others have been approved with small YouTube channels or even active TikTok accounts. Amazon basically just wants to see that you’re a real person with some kind of audience or content.

Once you’re accepted you get your own Amazon storefront and the ability to upload video content to product listings. And this is where the magic starts.

What Kind of Videos Do I Make?

Let me clear this up right away: I do not film with fancy lights or a $2,000 camera. I use my iPhone, a little ring light I bought on Amazon of course and I keep it super simple.

My videos are mostly 60–90 seconds long. I show the product, talk about what I like or don’t like and give people an honest look at how it works.

Here are a few examples:

  • Me unboxing a pair of noise canceling headphones

  • A demo of a portable blender making a smoothie

  • A quick overview of a standing desk I assembled

That’s it. No music, no jump cuts, no special effects. Just honest helpful content.

How Much Do I Make?

Okay let’s get to the juicy part. Yes I now make around $5,000 a month consistently just from my Amazon videos. Some months are a little higher (hello holiday season) and some a little lower but on average it’s a solid $5K.

Here’s how the earnings break down:

1. Video Commissions

These are my bread and butter. When someone watches my video on an Amazon product page and ends up buying that item or even other items during the same session I earn a commission. It’s usually between 3–10% of the sale price depending on the product category.

2. Bounty Bonuses

Amazon sometimes pays bounties for promoting certain services like Audible or Prime trials. If someone signs up after clicking through my link I get a flat rate usually $3–$15.

3. Holiday Bonuses

Q4 (October through December) is insane. With Black Friday, Cyber Monday and holiday shopping my earnings can literally double during that time.

A Peek Behind the Scenes: My Daily Workflow

I don’t treat this like a full-time job but I do treat it seriously. Here’s how I structure things:

Mondays – Sourcing Products

I go through my house and look for things I already own from Amazon you’d be surprised how much you have. If I don’t have anything new to review I’ll order 1–2 low cost high interest items to test out.

Tuesdays – Filming

I batch film videos in one go. I’ll usually knock out 5–10 product demos in one afternoon. Lighting and natural daylight are key here.

Wednesdays – Editing & Uploading

I use simple editing apps like InShot to trim videos, add text and clean up the audio. Then I upload them directly to Amazon with a catchy title and brief description.

Rest of the week – Passive Earnings

Once they’re uploaded I don’t touch them. Amazon handles the traffic. The videos sit there and keep generating commissions while I’m sipping coffee, doing laundry or binging Netflix.

What’s Worked for Me and What Hasn’t

Let’s talk strategy for a second. Not all videos perform equally. Some of my top earning videos are for the most boring products like an under sink organizer or a kitchen funnel set. Why? Because people search for those items with clear intent to buy.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

What Works:

  • Everyday products people need

  • Clear honest demonstrations

  • Short videos under 2 minutes

  • Decent lighting and steady camera work

  • Mentioning key features (“It’s dishwasher safe” or “This fits under my desk perfectly”)

What Doesn’t Work:

  • Super niche or expensive items unless it’s trending

  • Rambling videos with no structure

  • Over produced or overly scripted videos

  • Not showing the actual product in use

The goal is trust. When people feel like they’re watching a regular person and not a slick commercial they’re more likely to take action.

How I Track My Results

Amazon gives you a dashboard where you can see how many views each video is getting, how many clicks and how much you’ve earned. It’s not super detailed like Google Analytics but it gets the job done.

I usually check it once a day. It’s kind of addicting not going to lie. Seeing passive income rolling in from a video I uploaded three months ago? Chef’s kiss.

Is This Sustainable?

Short answer: Yes, absolutely.

Once your videos are live they continue to earn indefinitely. Sure some products go out of stock or get replaced by newer models but others just keep going. I have videos from last year that are still earning today.

Plus you can keep adding new content whenever you want. The more videos you have up the more opportunities you have to earn.

I think of each video like a little digital employee working 24/7 earning money while I sleep.

What You Need to Get Started

If you’re thinking “This sounds amazing but where do I even begin?” Don’t worry. Here’s a quick starter checklist:

  1. Join the Amazon Influencer Program

  2. Set up your storefront

    • This is where your videos and recommendations will live.

  3. Start creating content

    • Use your phone.

    • Start with products you already own.

    • Keep it simple and honest.

  4. Upload your videos

    • Make sure you’re uploading to product listings not just your storefront.

    • You’ll see them show up under “Shoppable Videos.”

  5. Rinse and repeat

    • The more you upload the more you can earn.

Look I’m not here to sell you some overnight success story. This isn’t a get rich quick thing. But if you’re willing to put in a few hours a week and you enjoy talking about products you already use and love this is a real opportunity. Amazon is literally paying people to help shoppers make better decisions. And there’s still room for more creators to get in.

Conclusion

When I started I didn’t know if this would work. I figured I’d try a few videos and see what happened. But within the first two weeks I made my first $100. Then $300. Then $1,000. Now? $5,000 a month and growing. It’s not magic. It’s just about showing up, being helpful and leveraging one of the biggest e-commerce platforms in the world. So if you’ve been looking for a side hustle that’s fun, flexible and actually profitable give this a shot. You might surprise yourself.
